    Osher Lifelong Learning Institute Classes!

    Osher Lifelong Learning Institute classes begin August 22, 2012. The OSHER Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at California State University Channel Islands brings the excitement and stimulation of college learning to area seniors (50 or better!) who wish to extend their learning experiences in a university atmosphere. At OLLI, eight week, University-quality courses are offered by Channel Islands faculty as well as qualified faculty from other institutions without the distraction of grading, preparing for a career, or meeting degree requirements.     NCCT Phlebotomy Testing Center

    Ventura Adult and Continuing Education provides Phlebotomy and Medical Assistant certification testing services through National Center for Competency Testing. If you need to take a test leading to certification, you can register and take the test at Technology Development Center, 5200 Valentine Road in Ventura. There is a $30 testing fee (waived for TDC students) as well as an exam fee.

    Testing dates for 2012-2013 are September 10, 2012; November 5, 2012; January 14, 2013; March 11, 2013; May 13, 2013; July 8, 2013; September 9, 2013; and November 18, 2013.     Prometric and Pearson/VUETesting Center

    Ventura Adult and Continuing Education provides testing services through Pearson/VUE and Prometric for such companies as Cisco, COMPTIA, and Microsoft, among others. If you need to take a test leading to licensure, certification and assessment programs offered by these leading testing services, you can register for the test you require at the web sites for either pearsonvue.com or prometric.com and take the test at Technology Development Center, 5200 Valentine Road in Ventura.     Official Typing and Calculating Tests

    Ventura Adult and Continuing Education offers certified typing and calculator testing. Please call 805-289-1744, ext. 1219 to schedule a testing appointment.

    • Tests are scheduled on Tuesdays from 12 pm to 1 pm
    • Tests are monitored by an instructor
    • Maximum of 20 minutes to practice before actual test begins
    • Typing: Four 5-minute timings will be given on a computer
    • Typing: Applicant needs to type at least 35 words-per-minute with no more than five errors
    • Calculator: One timing will be given on a calculator
    • Calculator: Applicant needs to type at least 135 keystrokes-per-minute with 99% accuracy
    • The cost is $5 (non-refundable)
    • Picture identification is required
    • When you pass the test, instructor will issue a certificate
    • Keep the original certificate in a safe place and make copies for employers or to submit with application materials
    • Test certificates are valid for one year from date of testing
